Jamón Serrano is Spain’s iconic cured ham. The best way to experience the flavor of Serrano is to cut thin slices from a whole bone-in jamón. This premium Trivium ham by Monte Nevado is aged for up to 20 months in the mountains of Segovia. It has a sweet flavor and mild saltiness making it one of our favorite Serrano hams.
Serrano Bone-In Jamón – Monte Nevada is a magnificent centerpiece for parties and family gatherings. The jamón, mounted in a sturdy holder, can be sliced for many days. At a moment’s notice you can carve a platter of delectable slices, or cut pieces to be sautéed with vegetables or sprinkled on scrambled eggs. When you are done you simply cover the sliced area and it will be preserved for the next slicing session.
Monte Nevado was founded in 1898 and is still family owned. The hams cure in the fresh air of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains near the ancient city of Segovia.
Jamón Serrano translates as ‘mountain ham.’ The ham masters at Monte Nevado pack the hams in sea salt for two weeks, and then hang them to cure for almost two years. Over the months nearly half of the ham melts away as it dries, creating a complex and flavorful ham. Each ham is manually inspected by a maestro de jamón to ensure it is perfectly cured.
Mount your Monte Nevado ham in a solid holder so that you can cut your jamón safely and access every delectable slice. Storage and slicing instructions will be included. Remove the ham from its plastic wrapping upon arrival and store in a cool, dry location away from insects. Carefully maintained, a bone-in jamón can last for weeks.
